Governor David Paterson Screws New York

I want to link a news article about New York environmental groups being blindsided by the governor on the regional greenhouse gas initiaitve.  Back in 2005, 10 of the Northeastern states passed RGGI, which set a target of 5% emissions reductions by 2020, and caused polluters to have to pay for some permits.  Basically, Paterson is changing the game by altering how many free permits vs paid for permits the utilities have to purchase each year.  This is going to severely weaken the while initiative, and it might encourage other states to follow suit.  I’ve seen plenty of other incompetence from Paterson over the past few months when its come to other political issues, but this one takes the cake.  Come election time in 2010, he should be shown the door.
