I just got this e-mail from the Energy Action Coalition, and I’ve seen e-mails from other environmental groups as well

**Please, forward this message***

Yesterday, the Department of Justice announced it is considering criminal charges against BP. This is a critical moment for us to demonstrate the public demand for a Crude Awakening and hold BP accountable for their crimes against the families in the Gulf. Time to take to the streets!

Join us for a Crude Awakening action Friday @ Noon, at BP headquarters in DC

BP’s negligence is not an isolated incident. What’s worse, this disaster could have been prevented, but BP elected to not install a critical safety device. This is criminal negligence and its time for a Citizen’s Arrest.

We need all the people we can get to deliver our charges against BP and present them with fitting attire for a criminal – an orange jumpsuit.

WHAT: Citizen’s Arrest Demonstration at BP’s DC Headquarters
WHEN: Friday, June 4th @ Noon
WHERE: BP Headquarters at 1101 New York Ave. NW. We will stage at the green space right across the street from BP’s office building

The Obama Administration is starting to respond to the public outcry. Let’s turn this disaster into a Crude Awakening to dramatically shift to a clean and safe energy economy now!

Please come on Friday, and thank you for your commitment and action,

Ethan Nuss,
Co-Field Director
Energy Action Coalition

Event co-sponsors: 350, Center for Biological Diversity, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, Hip Hop Caucus, and Public Citizen.

P.S. – Can’t come on Friday? Help us build the demand for a permanent ban on offshore drilling: Sign and share our petition to Obama and Congress.
