Environmental Groups Support Sotomayor

I haven’t seen or heard much in Sotomayor’s record that would indicate she would rule favorably or unfavorably on environmental issues.  There’s no doubt though that in the upcoming years the Supreme Court is going to have an important role in rulings.  They after all made the important ruling in 2007 Mass vs. EPA that the Federal Government could legally regulate greenhouse gases.

Here(pdf) is a letter by major environmental groups including Earth Justice, the Sierra Club, and the League of Conseration Voters to the Judiciary Committee voicing their support for Sotomayor.
